About the panelists:
Patricia Gruits – Sr. Principal with MASS Design Group, the firm recently named the Wall Street Journal's 2020 Architecture Innovator. Patricia is a leader in their growing affordable housing practice and was one of the design researchers who co-led Enterprise's research project, "Good Design in Affordable Housing: a framework to empower developers and improve design in affordable housing." Patricia is also an expert in MASS's award-winning predevelopment process: the Impact-Based Design Methodology (IDM), a four-part project visioning and prioritization process.
Mickey Northcutt – CEO, North Shore Community Development Coalition. Mickey is the founding CEO of Salem, Massachusetts-based North Shore CDC, where he has championed the importance of homes that are not only safe and affordable, but are also well-designed to create additional value for their residents. In partnership with MASS Design Group, NSCDC is currently using the Impact Based Design Methodology, an early goal-setting approach, in order to increase the impact of two projects currently in pre-development.
A.L. Hu – Design Initiatives Manager & Enterprise Rose Fellow, Ascendant Neighborhood Development Corporation. A.L. Hu is a Enterprise Rose Fellow and the Design Initiatives Manager at NYC-based Ascendant. During their time there, they have led Ascendant through using the Project Mission Writer tool on all of their pipeline projects, creating break-through results not only at the project level, but also in their strategic planning process.
Shelby O’Neill – Sr. Program Officer, Enterprise Green Communities. Shelby O'Neill, an architect by training, is one of the leaders of the 2020 Enterprise Green Communities Criteria launch. In her role, she is a champion of the criteria's new "Project Priorities Survey," which is a tool and requirement supporting developers to have early conversations with the community and be clear on their overall project objectives.
