More about the cause: Star House operates Central Ohio's only drop-in center for youth, ages 14-24, who are experiencing homelessness. Beyond basic needs, our clinical team provides therapy and case management, and partner agencies provide on-site and community-based access to stabilizing resources, such as housing, transportation, health care, employment, education, addiction services, legal aid, government benefits, ID cards and more.
In addition, Star House provides social services at Carol Stewart Village (CSV) — a 62-unit neighborhood for young adults, ages 18-24, with on-site programs and services.

Empowerment Day is your Columbus Urban League’s signature annual event. Join us on Wednesday, November 9th as we’re back in-person at the Thomas Conference Center (hosted by The Wendy’s Company).
Give Her Hope
Our communities have seen dramatic rises in unemployment and homelessness over the past year, leaving our neighbors and their families vulnerable. The YMCA of Central Ohio and our community partners are dedicated to giving hope back to our clients, and we need your help! You can be the difference between sleeping in a shelter or having a home of their own.
Giving hope comes in many different ways, like an apartment down payment, a ticket to travel to family out of town, or the fee to obtain a birth certificate. Join us as we bring our voices together to support a worthy cause.

2021 Ripple Of Hope
Celebrate 13 year of IMPACT as we honor those who have dedicated themselves as amplifiers of hope!
IMPACT Community Action, has prioritized the fight on poverty and has worked to address its root causes in Central Ohio for 13 years. In 2020 we halted our annual fundraiser because of COVID-19, but due to increased community need, we pause to call attention to the issues of poverty and how Community Action becomes a “bridge over troubled water” for those who need our services.
On Thursday, November 4th, IMPACT Community Action will host the Annual Ripple of Hope Award event at our new Headquarters as a hybrid event. We will be honoring servant leaders from our community, who have championed poverty-fighting initiatives. Proceeds from this event support IMPACT’s ongoing poverty-fighting programs and our social enterprise which will serve as a training ground for people interested in the food service industry. We are asking you to join us to help make this event another huge success.
A big thank you to our sponsors!

An empowering and educational virtual event!
Activists and Agitators 2021 will take place from 11am-1pm on Oct. 27, 2021. Our event will include engaging speakers, artists, experts, and community organizers to guide us in dreaming about what a more equitable Columbus would look like. We will redefine the role of systems in building our community and how we can build anew to create a Columbus of peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.

For 36 years, we’ve gathered during lunch to honor a select group of Columbus women who have made extraordinary contributions to their families, workplaces, and communities. This year’s Women of Achievement event will take place virtually on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 from 12-1 pm.
Are your organization's stories dishonoring the families you serve?
Storytelling is a powerful and effective tool in communication. However, when agencies tell unflattering, or worse, exploitive stories, to pull at the heartstrings of potential donors, it can harm those the agency intends to help.
This forum will address the following topics:
The intersection of donors, staff, and clients.
The Bootstrap Theory, the notion of The Undeserving versus The Deserving Poor, and how these theories affect public policy and service provision.
Giving USA 2021
Join us for Giving USA 2021, as we review 2020 giving trends to discuss how how we navigate our uncertain philanthropic environment.
About this event
For more than 60 years, the Giving USA report has been an excellent source of data about charitable giving in the nation, as it tracks estimates of what was given by four different types of donors—individuals, foundations, estates (bequests), and corporations. In addition, this year's report will review how the philanthropic landscape changed and adapted during 2020. Join us as Una O. Osili, Ph. D., the lead researcher of the Giving USA publication, shares the newest results.
Following Dr. Osili’s presentation will be a moderated discussion mirroring the report—focusing on central Ohio philanthropy—featuring perspectives and insights from corporations, individuals, nonprofits, and funders.
You can access the webinar by clicking this link:
*Registration is optional, however it is recommended if you would like to receive post-webinar resources. If you choose to register, an email confirmation that includes the link to join the webinar will be sent to you.
Should you have any questions, please contact Danielle Tong at dtong@columbusfoundation.org.
Evening of Light
Evening of Light is Alvis' annual event which brings together hundreds of businesses, organizations, and individuals to celebrate lives turned around by 180 degrees! Each year, at Evening of Light, Alvis honors a family whose efforts have positively impacted our community and created sustainable social change. We celebrate the Kellogg’s commitment to family and the positive impact that their generational philanthropy and volunteerism have provided to the Columbus area community.

Sleep Out! Columbus 2021
3,000 young people ages 14 to 24 will experience homelessness in Columbus in 2021.
Another 4,000 will be at risk of homelessness, unsure of where they will sleep on any given night.
At Huckleberry House, a brighter future starts at our front door.
From the 96 new apartments opened since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic to the 4,618 nights of shelter provided in our crisis shelter last year, we are meeting the needs of homeless and unstably housed youth ages 12 to 24. With a 90% success rate in our Transitional Living Program, we are addressing the long-term self-sufficiency of young people and keeping them out of the adult homeless system. Proceeds of the SLEEP OUT! benefit the proven programs of Huckleberry House.
You can help raise awareness and much-need funds. Donate or sign up to sleep out to become part of the solution.
